RISA ISRC CODES ADMINISTRATION FEE ANNOUNCEMENT

Notice to all RISA Members,

Sub: Introduction of ISRC First Owner Code Administration Fees

Dear RISA Member;

As many of you may be aware that in 2019 RISA created an ISRC first owner code Generating Portal system as an attempt of assisting sound recording owners effectively without any major hustles.

The portal enables Record Companies and Artists to:

• Manage Artist Profiles;
• Have multiple Company users to manage their artist profiles;
• Upload Music Files for artist Tracks;
• Automatically Assign Designation Codes for all their tracks without duplicates;
• Upload historical ISRC Codes;
• Intergrade with the API to programmatically manage records

Effective June 14, 2021, The Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) will start charging a fee (R100.00 VAT exclusive) as a recovery measure of the administrative costs and maintaining of the system. It is of importance to remember that an ISRC First Owner Code it’s a once off application, therefore existing ISRC holders are encouraged to link their old codes to the ISRC portal to avoid paying for something that they already have.

ISRC is available to all owners of recordings regardless of their membership (or not) with any industry association.
